BioMathLab is an inter-disciplinary project involving biologists and mathematicians to
teach quantitative problem solving skills to biology students in laboratory
courses. It combines mathematical descriptions of biological processes
with in-lab web-based data analysis and experimental manipulation.
Laboratory exercises are being developed at all levels of the curriculum:
introductory classes, sophmore-junior level, and advanced senior-level
physiology labs.
"Biology [at CalTech 1929-1930] was fascinating and I loved the class,
but it didn't seem to require any thinking and I remember musing at the time
that this wasn't right. There ought to be some problems!"
- James Bonner [famous plant biochemist], 1994. Chapters from my life. Annual Review of
Plant Physiology and Plant Molecular Biology. 45:1-23, page 5.
